PROJECT: TCP/IP SETTING MANUAL

 

In this section, we are going to show how to configure the IP address on the server. For the demonstration, we use Packet Tracer Version 8.0 software. IP address for the Ulearn System Server that we assigned is 172.16.48.2 based from the subnetting calculation.

These are the steps how to configure the IP address on the server.

Step 1: Double click the server icon to configure the IP address.

Step 2: After double click the server icon, physical information of the server will display. Click Config tab. On the submenu Config, under Display Name, change from “Server0” to “OUM OnlineLearning System Server”. As another option to change server display name, click on the label of the server and change to “OUM OnlineLearning System Server”. Changing device name helps to avoid making mistakes during the configuration process.

Step 3: After that, click Desktop tab. In Desktop menu, click IP Configuration to configure OUM OnlineLearning System Server IP Address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway based on the Addressing Table. Fill in IP Address section with 172.16.48.2, Subnet Mask section with 255.255.240.0 and Default Gateway section with 172.16.48.1.

TCP/IP MANUAL SETTING

In this section, you are assumed have correctly identified the IP address for the OnlineLearning System Server. Therefore, you must produce a manual on how to configure the IP address on the server. You can use any operating system to demonstrate this task. The explanation should be supported with the screenshot and appropriate explanation.

We will explain and show how to configure manually the IP address at the computer devices. For your information, in this demonstration it will be using the default Windows 10. This is a step-by-step instruction to changing your IP address in Windows 10.

To enable  TCP/IP settings manual

1. First you can find you Wi-Fi icon button on your screen. It will be on the right screen of your devices.



2. Then, select to Network & Internet Setting.



3. Find Your WIFI Name &  Click change adapter



4.  Click Select Wi-Fi > Manage known networks to manage a Wi-Fi network. For an Ethernet network, select Ethernet, then select the Ethernet network you’re connected to



5. Choose the network you want to change the settings for, then select Properties.



6. Then Wi-Fi Properties wil pop-up on your screen. Double-click on the one labelled "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)."



7. In this parts of properties, it must be done to fill in. As you can see, TCP/IP Properties can be configured in another of two ways one is automatically by the DHCP server or manually by the user.  If you use DHCP, then you don't have to change your TCP/IP settings if you move your PC to another location, and DHCP doesn't require you to manually configure TCP/IP settings, such as Domain Name System (DNS) and Windows Internet Name Service (WINS).



8.  By using manually TCP/IP setting, under Edit IP settings, select “ Use the following IP address “Manual.   . Fill in IP Address section with 172.16.48.2, Subnet Mask section with 255.255.240.0 and Default Gateway section with 172.16.48.1.

a. To specify IPv4 settings manually: 

i. To specify an IP address, in the IP address with 172.16.48.2, Subnet prefix length 255.255.240.0, and Gateway boxes 172.16.48.1, type the IP address settings.

ii. Finish all and click “OK” to save the settings. 

                                          

9. After click OK to save and apply your settings. To open the command prompt, you may go to Start Windows button or Search and type "cmd" in the search box. This following steps is to show your manually setting is absolutely verify by you computer.



10.  A blank black window will pop-up on your screen like this, it means a CMD.



11.  Lastly, type the command is  “ ipconfig” and it will show you the windows Ip configuration that you have make by using a manually setting IPV4 TCP/IP. As the results shown below, the Ip Address that we assigned is  to the one that we specify.
